Description

"Bring the distinctive flavours of traditional Indian cooking to your kitchen with Schani Methi Seeds 100g, whole fenugreek seeds prized for their bold aroma and complex taste.
Known as methi dana in Hindi, these small, golden-brown seeds have a characteristic earthy, nutty flavour with a pronounced bitterness and a subtle maple-like aroma. They are widely used in Indian and Middle Eastern cuisines to add depth to curries, pickles, dals, and aromatic spice blends.
Fenugreek seeds are particularly popular in traditional Indian tempering, where they are briefly heated in oil to release their fragrance. They are also a key ingredient in panch phoron, the five-spice blend commonly used in Bengali cooking.

Their robust flavour makes them especially suitable for slow-cooked dishes, tangy pickles, and rich vegetable preparations.
Whether you're preparing a traditional family recipe or exploring new spice combinations, Schani Methi Seeds offer an authentic way to add character and warmth to your cooking."

Tailor to Taste

"Schani Methi Seeds can be used whole, lightly toasted, or soaked before cooking, depending on the recipe.
For a flavourful Indian-style vegetable curry, heat a little oil in a pan and add a small pinch of fenugreek seeds. Allow them to sizzle briefly over gentle heat before adding onions, garlic, ginger, and your favourite spices. Stir in potatoes, cauliflower, aubergine, or other vegetables and cook until tender.
For a traditional Bengali-style panch phoron, combine fenugreek seeds with cumin, fennel, mustard, and nigella seeds. Add a small quantity of the whole spice mixture to hot oil before preparing dals or vegetable dishes.
Fenugreek seeds are also excellent in homemade Indian pickles, where their slightly bitter flavour complements mustard oil, chilli, turmeric, and tangy ingredients.
To soften their texture and moderate their bitterness, soak the seeds in water before incorporating them into suitable recipes.
Cooking tip: Fenugreek seeds have a strong flavour, so use them sparingly. Toast or fry briefly over low heat, as overheating can make their bitterness more pronounced."
